The overturning of Roe v. Wade in 2022 has not only affected abortion access but has also led to significant gaps in obstetric and gynecological care across the United States. In restrictive states like Texas, medical education and training on abortion care are limited, forcing students and residents to self-educate and relocate to other states. The resulting healthcare desertion impacts routine and pregnancy-related care and discourages new physicians from training in these regions, further threatening reproductive health services nationwide.
