Danbury Fair mall is experiencing significant growth with new stores like Jack & Jones, Pop Mart, and gorjana, alongside renovations of existing retailers. The mall’s strategic location and diverse offerings continue to attract shoppers, while experts emphasize the importance of adapting to online shopping trends and community needs to ensure long-term success.

Danbury Fair mall continues to grow with new stores and renovations

There is plenty of activity around the Danbury Fair mall with many “coming soon” signs. More stores are flocking to the mall, as one of the biggest shopping centers in New England continues to grow.

“Danbury Fair has continued to evolve as a premier shopping destination by blending dynamic fashion and beauty with pop culture, entertainment, and diverse dining experiences all in one convenient location,” said Danbury Fair spokesperson Nicole Ruotolo. “Our ability to adapt to trends and meet the changing needs of our community ensures we remain a relevant and engaging destination for visitors of all ages.

Jack & Jones, Pop Mart and gorjana are joining the more than 160 businesses operating at the Danbury Fair mall.

Jack & Jones, a Denmark-based company, will open its first U.S. store in Danbury, also including its women’s apparel line JJXX. The other planned location is at Freehold Raceway Mall in New Jersey. Both malls are owned by Macerich, a leading retail real estate owner and operator in the U.S.

“These two locations will be among the first in the U.S. to feature both Jack & Jones and JJXX, marking a major milestone in the brands’ expansion into one of the world’s most dynamic fashion markets,” the company said in a news release.

Founded as a denim-focused menswear label, Jack & Jones has grown into an international retailer with over 4,000 stores worldwide, offering denim, tailoring, casual wear, urban sportswear, and accessories. JJXX focuses on high-quality denim and versatile wardrobe staples.

“The U.S. has always been an important and influential market for fashion,” said Anders Gam, brand director for Jack & Jones. “Entering this retail market is a milestone for us, and we’re excited to introduce our blend of denim expertise and accessible fashion to U.S. consumers — great denim, on-trend fashion, and affordable prices.”

“Jack & Jones and JJXX bring a fresh, exciting energy to our malls,” said Eric Bunyan, senior vice president of leasing for Macerich. “Their focus on quality, style, and versatile fashion complements the shopping experience, and we’re thrilled to introduce these brands.”

Pop Mart, a global designer toy brand known for collectible figures including characters like Molly, SKULLPANDA, and Labubu, celebrated its grand opening on Saturday. Located on the second floor next to LUSH, it offers an immersive shopping experience.

California-based jewelry brand gorjana will open in early 2026 next to Coach. The store recently opened at Westfarms mall.

A CT mall attracts an array of new, trendiest stores. One is a first for the state.

Rowan, an innovative piercing and jewelry company, will also open at Danbury Fair early next year. Ear piercing at Rowan is performed by licensed nurses.

Other recent or upcoming store openings include GOAT USA, The Children’s Place, MINISO, and JD Sports. Renovations include Victoria’s Secret, Foot Locker, Snipes, and Verizon.

Coach returned to the mall last month, with Danbury Fair general manager Mackenzie Fontaine noting it as an icon of your high-quality retail offerings.

Danbury Mayor Roberto Alves highlighted the mall’s success, its prime location close to major markets including Westchester, Stamford, New Haven, and Waterbury, and its mix of stores, restaurants, and entertainment options like Round1 Bowling & Arcade and Golf Lounge 18.

He also mentioned an upcoming big-name restaurant moving into a previously leased space, which will serve as an additional attraction.

Alves emphasized the importance of innovative thinking and community engagement for malls to thrive in the modern retail landscape, and the value of providing multiple experiences beyond shopping alone.

Given the current retail environment, local experts note that Danbury Fair's location, demographics, and mix of stores position it to remain stable in a challenging market.

Assistant Professor Dr. James Mohs of the University of New Haven explained that the affluent surrounding towns and proximity to New York are advantageous. He also pointed out the impact of online shopping growth, which has grown 1,000-fold since 1997, and the need for malls to adapt—potentially transforming spaces into healthcare, housing, or community centers.

UHart’s Kenneth Goroshko echoed that the increasing online sales necessitate creative strategies. He stressed the importance of understanding community needs and diversifying mall offerings.

Finally, Danbury’s success is tied to strong leadership and the balance of retail, dining, and entertainment, making it a hub for community activity and shopping alike, according to local officials and experts.
