A new ventilation fan will help Adamsburg firefighters stay safe while responding to building fires or hazardous materials calls.
Adamsburg & Community Volunteer Fire Department in Hempfield this week received the battery-powered positive pressure ventilation fan through a $4,300 grant from Energy Transfer’s First Responder Fund, officials said.
Department grants coordinator Don Thoma said the compact fan can quickly clear smoke and fumes while reducing heat and improving visibility for firefighters.
Energy Transfer operates thousands of miles of pipelines and associated infrastructure around the country, including Pennsylvania. The company’s First Responder Fund is for fire departments, EMS agencies, police departments and others that are located near Energy Transfer’s Infrastructure. Funding can help with equipment, training or modifications to stations.
“Supporting first responders in communities where we operate is important to us,” said Chris Koop, manager of public affairs, in a statement.
